Color Theory and the Pen Tool

Wednesday January 6th

1- Watch the color theory video

2- Go to Seesaw there is an activity to complete

3. Color Method Game This color-matching game tests your eye for color in six different areas—hue, saturation, complementary, analogous, triadic, and tetradic—all using an interactive color wheel.

In each section, you are tasked with matching specific colors and schemes on the color wheel with your mouse. The challenge is, you’re only given about 15-20 seconds to find those colors. It gets increasingly more difficult as more colors are added.

4 .Bezier Game was made to train us to master this seemingly complex tool in a fun, low-pressure atmosphere. The game simulates a real Pen Tool experience just as we would use it in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, challenging us to follow specific paths making up both simple and complex shapes.

At the end of class I look forward to hearing how it went.

Font Men- Short Documentary

Thursday January 7th

Watch the video on the left first- its a great one!

There is a seesaw activity where you will be exploring font

Watch the video on the right to see what goes into designing new type faces.

On a piece of paper you will create sketches for a new typeface using the letters of your name. Take a picture of your sketches and post to seesaw at the end of class.

Monday, January 11th

Forget generating content, think deconstructing content

    1. Today's first exercise is to start with simple words (try at least 5) and to start chopping bits out. It requires very little brain effort and can generate some amazing results. Work in photoshop

Start going through all available digital effects and filters

    1. If Photoshop’s crystalize feature doesn’t get you buzzing, just start going through the filters. This is a fun exercise to generate a lot of visual ideas without requiring much elbow grease from you at all!

Find images and explore with a variety of effects and filters.

On seesaw post your work examples and any an image of your favorite exploration with effects and filters- be prepared to share them with the class on Tuesday!!!

a. The example above uses Photoshop’s Filter>Artistic>Cutout. How intriguing these new shapes are! Perhaps a starting point for a bicycle symbol or logo.

b. The example above used Photoshop’s Filter > Pixelate > Crystalize feature. That was easy, and created something really cool looking.
